‘Exploring Life in a New Community’

Saturday 2nd April, 2011 (Workshop Note 1)

Saturday 1st October, 2011 (Workshop Note 2)

Saturday 21st January, 2012 (Workshop Note 3)

Tuesday 14th February, 2012 (Workshop Note 4)

Location:                                                                                                                      Northamptonshire

Participants:                                                                                                                              Children and young people aged 9-15 who live in the community and representatives of organisations working and living in the local area such as the Residents and Community Association, Local Police, Parish and Borough Councillors, Homes and Communities Agency, Housing Association, the Church and youth organisations.

Purpose:                                                                                                                                               To facilitate a dialogue between children and young people living in the community and local adult partners.  To create a space where children and adults could discuss their views, regarding where they live and work. In particular we wished to provide an opportunity for adults engaged in community policy, planning and development to hear directly from the children and young people what is important to them.  We hope that the workshops will stimulate future engagements in creating change.

Organisation:                                                                                                                                           The workshop was jointly run and managed by a group of young people and the research team of the NUNC project.  The young people participated in planning the event and activities on the day.
